Suddenly leaving on a wild adventure
Or maybe not so wild. The one time I tried zip-lining was disastrous…And that’s about as wild as most urban people on vacation get.
So Bear got the job. He quit his last job and he doesn’t have to start work at the new place until three weeks from now. And we are suddenly leaving, tomorrow, to travel around the country and visit as many as we can of the relatives we’ve been meaning to visit. And then we are going somewhere with a lot of beaches to lie on. For the rest of our honeymoon. The original honeymoon was about two days long, and it was chilly. Bear had to get back to work. I was sort of done with the whole planning-wedding-stuff thing at that point, and just wanted to get back to my life.
And now, out of nowhere, we are going everywhere. We planned the beginning of the trip yesterday. We’ll plan the rest as we go. I am trying very hard to have more of an “what an adventure!” attitude and less of my usual “holy shit, everything is going to fall apart!” attitude.
And now, out of nowhere, we have actual time together. Normally, Bear is working twelve hours a day, at the least. Normally, I’m excited for the evening. But here we are, in the middle of the day, on a Tuesday. He’s washing dishes right now, in the kitchen, I’m on my laptop. Anything could happen.
So I’ll be gone until the end of the month, on our adventure, but I’m bringing this computer with me. I’ll try not to disappear from the internet entirely, because that would be weird. I’ll also try not to think about all of the stuff that I should be doing. At least AOL laid me off, right? That whole thing turned out to be surprisingly convenient.
AAAHHH!!! So much is happening! I haven’t had time to think. I only have one bikini, and it is really old. It used to be my friend’s, but her breasts were too big for it, so she gave it to me. And I haven’t worn a bathing suit in a long time.
Anything could happen.

Un-roast: Today I love how unpredictable my look is. Sometimes I am elegant, sometimes grungy, sometimes sort of cute.
P.S. New photos in the cake gallery! Thanks Jeanette and Katie and Grandma!
P.P.S. Update on naked photos guy: nothing. He hasn’t contacted me again. I assume after he was warned that the police would be involved, he realized he was in over his head and decided to quietly go away. If so, he made the right decision. Thanks for all the support!

Enjoy your adventures and visiting with all of the friends and family. It will be exciting in and of itself. So, I guess you losing your job has not turned out so bad after all?

Please pass my congratulations on to Bear on his new job. (Insert standing ovation, here!)
And enjoy the rest of your honeymoon! Don’t worry too much about us–we’ll be here when you get back–unlike houseplants and pets, we readers are self-watering, and can feed and walk ourselves.
Unroast: Today, I love how my slightly shaggy, growing-out haircut looks. It’s just about the length I like it…

Congrats to Bear on the new job, and for opportunity knocking – it’s a blessing to be able to get away while you can and ENJOY!
(and if you do end up in Cali next week, I’m there too, for Tribal Fest in Sebastopol…would be funny to run into you there, when I’m in NYC for meetings every other week..)
