Shabby Apple dress giveaway! hell yeah.
When the Shabby Apple people wrote to me they suggested that my “fashionable readers” might like one of their dresses. I was flattered on your behalf. I also noticed that, although they complimented my writing, there was no mention of how fashionable I am. There’s a chance they saw some pictures of me, wearing things that hurt the eyes and the soul when combined. Or things that simply put the eyes and the soul to sleep. But never mind that. This is really, really fun.
Except that I had to pick a dress that I hoped you guys would like. It took a while. I narrowed it down to four or so, consulted five friends, agonized for days (possibly totally a week and a half), agonized even more today, when I changed my mind a lot two minutes before posting this, and then finally just picked the boldest one, reddest, most fabulous one. Why not?
So here’s the deal: I’m giving away the nothin’ like a dame dress from Shabby Apple, a very cool online boutique of women’s dresses.
This is it:
(Modeled by a woman who looks pretty happy in it and has arms that make me pretty happy. check out the other photos here: source)
I think you can probably put a belt on it, if you want to (I put belts on everything).
To win it, do these things (why am I using so many colons?): like Shabby Apple’s FB page here (I love the way modern business works). And then comment on this post. In your comment, let me know which is your favorite dress or item on Shabby Apple’s site. The rest of your comment can be anything. It can be “Give me that dress” or “This is incredibly stupid” or “This feels really antiquated.” You’ll still be in the running if you mention a favorite thing on the Shabby Apple site.
On Monday, I’ll pick a winner based on a fair, unbiased, totally legit system that I’m planning on copying from another blogger who has more experience with this sort of thing. Possibly Annabel Candy or Janetha. At that point, if you won, I’ll ask you for your shipping address and dress size, and I’ll send the info to the really nice Shabby Apple people, who will send you the dress. And everyone will be happy. In your family. I will be jealous, because I really like the dress. But I’ll still love you.
Qualifications that make me sad: This is for people with USA shipping addresses only. I’m really sorry. I know a lot of you live in other countries, and that the people on the streets of those countries would’ve liked to see you in this dress. Also, it’s being brought to my attention that the dress doesn’t come in enough sizes, and I’m totally sorry about that and wish it did and really don’t want the message to be “Too bad, you’re not thin enough,” because obviously, that’s not my thing. If that is indeed the message that you’re getting, this is me humbly asking you to take it with a grain of salt and forgive me. Also, I’m sorry I don’t have something for the men/boys who read this blog (you know who you are). I mean, unless you like wearing dresses or want to enter for a woman/girl/guy who likes wearing dresses in your life. I think I’ll probably be doing another non-clothing related giveaway soon, though!
Anyway. I hope you like it!
Thanks, Shabby Apple! But next time give me less choices, please 🙂

Unroast: Today I love the way I look when I grin.
P.S. When I was agonizing over it this morning to Bear, he was like, “Just pick the red one.” Is it really so simple?
P.P.S. “Nothin’ like a dame”? My brother played Emile in his high school production of South Pacific, so I am really fond of the play, but I feel a little awkward, after the last conversation on this blog…

Hope this isn’t too late (I’m on the west coast! Promise! It’s still Monday!). My favorite thing on the SA site is the Champs Elysees dress. So pretty!
